Sabah crowned champions
Sunday, 6 December, 2009

Sabah are the champions of the Agong’s Cup.  The annual cup of the Malaysian union has been won by the Playmore kitted out Sabah team. Playmore would like to send our congratulations to all the players.  Looks like it could have been a physical affair.

Sabah beat the Armed Forces 17-15 in final to clinch a close and hard fought victory.  Sabah were definitely up against it as the Armed forces were not only the hosts of the final but reigning and 11 times champions of the Agong’s Cup.

Sabah led by Samoan Mussolini Megale managed to cross the try line three times to the Armed forces 2 tries. Benjamin Botica of New Zealand and Fijian Esala Nadruku were standout performers for Sabah in the final and they look forward to defending the cup in 2010

Borneo Eagles Soaring High
Saturday, 14 November, 2009

The Borneo Eagles have been absolutely flying high this season, taking the Asian rugby scene by storm. They have learnt a lot and improved their style of play since their earlier win in the Borneo Club Invitational 7s to become a dominant force in Asia.

The biggest of their achievements being crowned the plate winners at the Singapore International 7s, and then a week later, being crowned the 40th HSBC-Cobra Rugby 10s Champions at Padang Utara. Having steam-rolled the infamous Penguins International in the semi-final 22-0, they went on to crush the tournament host favourites, Cobra, 32-10 in the final.

Playmore are extremely proud to be associated with the Borneo Eagles.

The club, which is based in Sandakan, has some of the most exciting talent on the circuit representing them this season. Players include the likes of the U20 All Blacks stars, Galuefa Falamoe and Benjamin Frano and two Samoan internationals, Siualo Lemalu and Alapasa Cordtz.
